Legendary performer Elton John was thrust into EGOT status on Jan. 15, 2024, after receiving his first Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for “Elton John: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.” John won his first Grammy award in 1987 for “That’s What Friends Are For,” a collaboration with Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder. In 1994, he won his first Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” from “The Lion King.” In 2000, John’s musical work on “Aida” won him a Best Original Score Tony award.
